TODAY: EPIPHANY PARTY on Monday 6th has been CANCELLED. Tomorrow - Sunday 5th, 9am Morning Prayer Service as ususal
NEWS AS OF 29.12.2019: SUNDAY 29th December 10:30am (The first sunday of Christmas) EUCHARIST Preacher and Celebrant Father Gerald FROM FR GERALD – My last Sunday today. A very poignant occasion as you might imagine. I penned my formal written ‘goodbye’ on last week’s sheet but just to say that although I am retiring from my position as Vicar here, Rosemary and I will still be attending CofSF in the foreseeable future (although will make ourselves scarce during January!). We are keen to continue to support our church family in more practical ways. Of course at the time of writing, Rosemary is still Church Warden which position she initially intended to maintain but due to very obvious reasons, now questions whether it is fair to do so. She continues to pray about that! Gerald+ EPIPHANY PARTY! It is the occasion of the Epiphany Party a week tomorrow, Monday 6th January, 7pm. Please ensure that if you wish to join us, you have today put your name on the list that is being circulated. Thank you. WELFARE/PRAYER MATTERS: Please continue to uphold our dear brother Derrick Breden in prayer. Fr Gerald visited him yesterday (Friday) following his operation to mend (not replace) his broken hip. It is also believed that he had had a stroke. He is very poorly and most unusually, did not even recognise Fr Gerald. Fr Michael administered the Last Rite this morning (Sat) Birthdays in January: 4th Len Brett-Sinclair; 9th Bob Wood; 12th Ria Chapman; 22nd Bruce Williams. Your new Vicar takes up his parish duties as of the 1st January 2020 DV. We wish him every blessing in his new role.
Sunday 25th Dec 2019: A Merry Christmas to you all. FROM FR GERALD – I am very conscious just how busy everyone gets at this time of the year so to see your commitment at all the extra services over this Christmastide is truly heart warming. I am equally conscious that my last service before retiring as your vicar is just around the corner so I wanted to express my affection and gratitude for your love and support these past eight years. Never did I envisage that two years after standing down as minister of Shoreham Free Church, God would lead me to a new work. I believe that your faithfulness and encouragement is a testament to God’s calling, and my prayer now is that the work begun may continue to blossom under God and through his servant Fr Michael. So a very deep thank you to one and all. In Christ Gerald+ News as of SUNDAY 15th DECEMBER 10.30am PARISH EUCHARIST Preacher & Celebrant Father Gerald

A message from Bishop Primus John Fenwick: It gives me great pleasure to send my greetings to this day conference on the theme of 'Against the Tide'. For a number of years now Bishop Gavin Ashenden has been collaborating with the Bishops of the Free Church of England and others to try and bring about a coherent orthodox Anglican witness in the United Kingdom and beyond. We have also benefited from his insight and analysis of the present complex situation. I am delighted that St Francis', Shoreham, is hosting this event and have no doubt whatsoever that it will be stimulating and challenging. My prayer is that from this will emerge possibilities for future action that will secure and extend the apostolic faith in this country. + John Fenwick Primus

News at 02.06.2019: TODAY SUNDAY 2nd JUNE (Easter 7)
WELFARE / PRAYER MATTERS: Please pray that love may be demonstrated and shared among us in the days and weeks ahead! The Evil One wants to play havoc because he knows our vulnerability. ASCENSION DAY SERVICE THURSDAY 30 MAY - We met at 10.30am at the Church for our service to celebrate the ascension of Christ into Heaven following his resurrec-tion. The service was led by Fr Gerald and was attended by 8 of us. The retiring offering raised £30+ which was very gratifying and quite amazing, and for which we give thanks to the Lord. TUESDAY 18TH JUNE ‘THE LIFE OF CHRIST’ WINTERSHALL - We have had only one firm booking/payment for the trip so we assume there is no interest in going and will cancel the event unless any interest is expressed TODAY! PILGRIMAGE TO ISRAEL NOVEMBER 2019 - There is every likelihood that the trip will be postponed until next year due to lack of support. However, Bishop Paul is giving it a final push this weekend - he has had a lot of interest but no commitment - and will definitively confirm the position next week. SATURDAY 19 OCTOBER 2pm to 5pm ‘AGAINST THE TIDE’ - Please endeavour to put this date aside in your diary. We have booked the Shoreham Centre to host a visit by Bishop Gavin Ashenden (who was a regular broadcaster on Sussex Radio during the ’90’s, a former Chaplain and Lecturer at Brighton University and Chaplain to the Queen). His lecture will be entitled “Against The Tide!” which reflects the subject of our forthcoming Bible Study series. Fr Michael is preparing literature for circulation.
